ABOUT
Patty Wortham here, folks, happy to see you’ve found my bio.
Resolutely opposed to writing this in the third person, so here I am telling you - as though over a cup of coffee, in a semi-casual meeting - that I’m obsessed with working with people and empowering them in their bodies. Whether in a private training session or group class, big gym or boutique studio, my goal is always the same: connecting people to their own physical intelligence.
What started as a work/study job at a popular dance and strength training studio in 2007, has snowballed into almost two decades of teaching. First as a group fitness instructor and personal trainer, and now as a Pilates instructor and movement professional. I’ve worked throughout the country as a group fitness presenter for Equinox Fitness Clubs, co-created a group fitness format for Equinox called Pilates Remix, and managed Pilates studios in both Northern and Southern California. Celebrities, retirees, or recluses, my clients and students are my passion at any age or stage.
And if you’re still reading and want a little more, it’s only fair to mention that – before, beyond, and parallel to fitness – there has and will always be my love and work in the theater. My first years in LA were spent at The Groundlings Theatre (think Saturday Night Live in a 99-seat theater) improvising, writing ridiculous sketches, and laughing too hard for too long with people I still know and love. My work as a performer informs how I teach today: eternally interested in the moment at hand, saying yes to what comes next, and finding ways to laugh while moving through life.
These days I can be found both virtually and in-person. If you’re interested in working together, please feel free to reach out.
